The first 4G tablet supported in Australia – the Samsung GALAXY Tab 8.9 4G

Introducing the new Samsung GALAXY Tab 8.9, the first 4G compatible tablet introduced in Australia – delivering super-fast wireless internet speeds over the Telstra 4G (LTE) network to selected coverage areas^.

Designed to take advantage of the super-fast speeds offered by Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless mobile networks (commonly referred to as 4G), the Samsung GALAXY Tab 8.9 4G is currently the first compatible 4G tablet in Australia supported on the 1800MHz frequency offered by Telstra (in selected coverage areas)^.

The Samsung GALAXY Tab 8.9 4G helps ensure an immersive experience with its high definition 8.9 inch touch screen, combined with a 1.5 GHz dual core processor for fast multi-tasking and the ability to run lots of applications at the one time.

It’s also a featherweight at a mere 470 grams.

The Samsung GALAXY Tab 8.9 4G also includes:

  • Android™ 3.2 operating software (upgradeable to Android 4.0 in the future)
  • A 1280x800 high definition display with the outer screen fortified by Gorilla® Glass.
  • Powered by a 6,100mAh battery for hours of entertainment.
  • Rear-facing 3-megapixel camera with flash and front-facing 2-megapixel camera for easy video conferencing and picture-taking. 
  • The choice of 16GB or 32GB of on-board memory.

As well as the high performance hardware, the Samsung GALAXY Tab 8.9 comes with access to lots of Samsung content, entertainment and productivity services:

  • Samsung Music Hub™*: Samsung Music Hub is a subscription based music service that enables users to access millions of songs from most major record labels and play it on the tab. 
  • Samsung Readers Hub**: Access a library of more than 2.3 million books, 2,000 newspapers and 3,000 magazines.
  • Polaris™ Office: View and edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations while on the move.
  • Google™ Mobile Services**: A suite of Google Mobile Services is preloaded on the Galaxy Tab 8.9 including access to tens of thousands of apps on Android Market™, Gmail™, Google Search™, Google Maps™ 5.0 with 3D maps and Google Talk™ with video and voice chat.
  • AllShare™ service***: Provides content transfer between the Galaxy Tab 8.9 and other DLNA-enabled devices such as compatible HDTV’s, monitors and digital cameras.

The GALAXY Tab 8.9 4G with 16GB of storage is available from Tuesday 28 February 2012 and can be purchased outright from $720 RRP from your local stockist. The 32GB version will launch shortly in Australia and will be available to purchase outright from $840 RRP.
