The upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich is available now by connecting your phone to a PC and download through Samsung Kies or through a Free over the air (FOTA) update*. To receive the FOTA update on your phone go to Settings > About phone > Software update. The update is a 275MB download, Samsung recommends that your phone be connected to WiFi to receive the update to avoid running over your mobile data plan.

The installation of Ice Cream Sandwich is relatively seamless. It should not wipe your contacts, files, apps or messaging history but Samsung strongly recommends completing a backup of your phone’s data prior to installing the update. Also, ensure that your phone’s battery contains sufficient charge to complete the update.
