Understanding new features in Samsung compact cameras

With the recent launch of new Samsung compact cameras, Samsung have introduced a couple of handy new features that will let you create some cool and visually interesting photos. These features are built into the camera and can be applied automatically without the need for complex post-photo processing.

 

 

Smart Filter

The Smart Filter is a range of digitised effects that you can apply to your photos to give them some added pizzazz. Some of the effects include:

• Fisheye: to electronically warp your photo like a fisheye lens
• Pencil-sketch: to turn the outline of your photo into a pencil-sketch
• Miniature: to miniaturise a landscape scene
• Old Film: to give your photo a vintage film effect
• Half-tone dot: to create photos like an old newspaper
• Soft Focus: to create the same effect as a soft focus filter – great for stylised portraits
• Vignetting:  a reduction in brightness around the edges of the photo to create a stylish rounded image

All up the new Samsung compact cameras offer up to 12 different effects. The Smart Filter is available on all new 2011 models (except the ST30)

 

Magic Frame

Magic Frame is a new feature which allows you to create sophisticated border effects around images with a poster-quality visual. With a choice of 12 different themes, Magic Frame adds a sophisticated visual to faces – making them ideal for postcards or posters. The Magic Frame function creates the composition automatically within the camera and is available on all new 2011 models (except the ST30, PL20 and ES80).

 

Perfect Portrait System

The Perfect Portrait System delivers better“people shots”. It incorporates six key functions that highlight people’s faces to deliver cleaner, in focus and properly exposed portraits that show off your subject’s best assets:

The Perfect Portrait System is available on all 2011 Samsung compact cameras (except the PL20 and ES80)
